Welcome to COOPGIS.org This is a GIS for a distribution electric utility based on freely available open source software. COOPGIS utilizes PostGreSQL, GeoDjango, OpenLayers, MapServer, Apache, Ubuntu, and other Open Source applications.
The 0.5 version should be released sometime around 9/1/2009. It has significant code refactoring and many bug fixes/feature enhancements over the 0.4 version. 0.5 also already includes major enhancements to Staker over the 0.4 download.
COOPGIS capabilities include [some of these features are in the .5 version only that is not yet released]:
Inventory Collection
Staker
Assembly Editor
Pole Joint Use Editor
Vegetation Management
Circuit Analysis [Circuit Traces]
Development is currently being done internally at a COOP using COOPGIS in production. Code updates will be posted periodically to this site. If others are interested in putting major effort into developing COOPGIS, we can look into options to allow a more open development process.
